Description
The Africanized Honeybee looks just like the Honeybee with the characteristic black stripes across a yellow body. Honeybees send out a scent that alerts the colony to danger and some will come out, attack the intruder, and return to the nest.
Africanized honeybees also respond by sending out a scent to alert the colony, but they swarm out in greater numbers and attack animals and humans in a broader area around the hive. The venom from an Africanized honeybee is no stronger than a honeybee, but with multiple stings in an aggressive attack from the Africanized honeybee, there is a higher amount of venom injected. And those allergic to bee stings are in even more danger.
Control Advice
If you encounter any honeybee it is best to leave it alone and contact a professional beekeeper or exterminator to locate and remove the hive.
Active Seasons
