Description
The Brown-banded Cockroach is small, brown and easily identified with tan stripes across its back that are visible at every stage of development. They also have wings but the females do not fly as well as the males.
The Brown-banded cockroach is usually found inside dwellings where it prefers dry areas away from the kitchen and bathroom. It also is most often found crawling near the ceiling or on the tops of cabinets or shelves, rather than down low and is most active at night. Female Brown-banded cockroaches will attach their egg casings inside furniture, closets and other protected spaces.
Control Advice
Seal openings to the home, including plumbing and wire entrances. Keep secure screens on all windows and ventilation points. Locate woodpiles away from the house and clear yard of leaf debris. Keep kitchens clean and cover garbage securely.
Active Seasons
The Brown-banded Cockroach is most active in spring and summer.
