Description
Crab Spiders get their name from their likeness to an ocean crab. They have small, flat bodies and very long legs. Like the ocean crab, the use their two front legs to catch their prey. While they often move like other spiders, the Crab Spider can also scurry sideways like a crab.
The Crab Spider uses camouflage to lay in wait for prey to pass close enough to catch. Some are the bright colors of the flowers they live on while waiting for prey while others take on the look of leaves or even bird droppings. Crab Spiders can move very quickly. Because of their ability to camouflage themselves, it may be startling to see one move. They prey on other insects and can be beneficial to the environment
Control Advice
