Description

The brightly colored Cuban Cockroach is mostly common in tropical climates where it prefers to live in trees or other foliage. The nymphs can be found on the ground in leaf debris and thick vegetation.

Cuban cockroaches feed on fruits and sweet organic materials. Cuban cockroaches are h3 flyers. They are attracted to lights and will fly toward them, sometimes entering a dwelling in search of food where they search through garbage for sweet foods, juices and sodas.

Cuban cockroaches usually return outdoors and do not usually nest inside but while there they can carry bacteria and germs inside.

Control Advice

Be sure all windows and attic ventilations are covered with screens and seal any outside openings. Move foliage away from the house and clear yard of leaf debris. Bring pet food in at night and cover garbage securely. Consider dimming outdoor lights or changing them to the yellow ‘bug’ lights.

Active Seasons

The Cuban Cockroach is most active in spring and summer.
