Description
Dampwood Termites are larger than other termites. The soldiers grow up to 3/4” long, the nymphs up to 5/8” long, and the queen and king up to 5/8” long.
Between late spring and early fall Dampwood Termites will swarm out away from the colony in search of a suitable location to create a new colony.
Once suitably moist wood has been located, the king and queen will begin laying eggs. Dampwood Termites eat away at the wood inside as the colony grows, sometimes leaving little evidence of the destruction inside. Dampwood Termites will sometimes seal their nest with fecal matter to protect themselves from the outside air.
Control Advice
