Description
Earwigs are brown and grow to about 1” in length with long antennae on their heads and pinchers protruding from the back of their abdomen, possibly confusing predators as to which end is the head. Although they have wings, they rarely fly.
They often live clustered together in large groups under leaves, logs, bark or piles of yard debris. Earwigs are nocturnal and are scavengers, feeding on foliage or insects.
When Earwigs are found in the home, it is likely they are in search of food. They may leave a scent trail for others to follow and will travel back and forth to their nesting location outdoors. In defense they will drop to the ground and scurry to a crevice to hide.
Control Advice
Clear yard debris away from the foundation, close up any cracks or openings to the home. Locate and remove insects in the home to discourage their return.

The Earwig is most active in spring, summer and fall.
