Description
The House Centipede has a long body with three bands of darker color running down its back. It has two antennae, up to 15 pairs of long delicate legs, and two appendages from the back of its abdomen, making it difficult to tell the head from the rear.
House Centipedes are often found outdoors in woodpiles and under rocks. Indoors they can be found in any room, usually near the baseboards or ceilings, or hiding in cabinets, closets, basements, or crawl spaces. Once established indoors their population can grow quickly so while they are beneficial in removing unwanted insects they can become pests.
Control Advice
Sticky traps can be used to capture and remove as well as determine if there are just a few or if there are a larger number hiding indoors. Centipedes found outdoors can be moved away from the home to feed on yard and garden insects.

House Centipedes are most active in spring and fall.
